The President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). Otunba Francis Meshioye has charged  manufacturers in the country to adopt innovative technology processes that can enhance locally- produced products.

 

 

Meshioye gave the charge at  a media session,  ahead of the 2025 Edition of the Nigeria Manufacturing and Equipment Expo (NME), and the Nigerian Raw Materials Expo (NIRAM),  being   organized by the association, in conjunction with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC).

 

 

The MAN boss highlighted the role of cutting edge technology in driving sustainable industrial growth, adding that embracing innovations is now essential  for competitiveness and long term value creation across the sector.

 

 

He described the forthcoming  event as serving as a pivotal platform for embracing home- grown technology to scale up locally manufactured goods, support sustainable development  and discourage over dependence on foreign goods.

 

 

The MAN boss  noted that by embracing cutting-edge technologies, the country’s manufacturing sector is heading towards a drive for innovation, resilience, and long-term value for its stakeholders.

 

 

 

According to him, the association is planning to engage key stakeholders in the manufacturing industry on innovative technology solutions, with the aim of improving  the process of manufacturing,  and, by extension, improving quality of products manufactured locally in the country.

 

 

“Our focus is to spark conversations around Deployment of energy-efficiency in our production facilities; Implementation of smart factory technologies, including Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), to optimise resource use; Waste reduction strategies through closed-loop systems and advanced recycling methods; and engender partnerships with green tech innovators to co-develop scalable, sustainable solutions,” he added.

 

 

In her remarks,  Overseeing Director, State Industrial Extension Services,  RMEDC,  Dr. Edith Obi, expressed the agency’s commitment at ensuring that  no raw material is exported out of the country without the necessary value addition to it.
