The management of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has said additional 15 offices have been opened across the state to further enhance  its operations in the state.

 

The agency’s  Managing Director, Prince Fatiu Akiolu, while speaking with top media practitioners, recently,   in Lagos, also disclosed that the agency was  able to improve on the 18 percent revenue record of 2023,  to 50 percent, at the end of the 2024 financial year.

 

The LASAA boss attributed the feat to effective enforcements and much improved sensitization of the public to the operations and workings of the agency.

 

On the new offices,  Prince Akiolu stated that due to the difficulties usually encountered by the agency in setting up offices in local government councils across the state, the agency had  built 15 portkkabin offices in some  of those local governments, in addition to the existing 27 offices, thereby bringing the total number of  its offices, across Lagos, to 42.

 

On his agency’s move  ensure safety in the installations of billboards across the state, Akiolu explained that besides giving approvals for the siting of billboards and signages across the state, the agency now visits the sites, when the billboards are being installed to ensure that the right and specified materials are used.

 

He also allayed fears, in some quarters about  the agency being hostile to small businesses, in the state, adding that SMEs are adequately taken care of in  its price templates.

 

“We have as low as N20,000 and N10,000 for small businesses. But the challenge is that some  of those businesses will go for LEDs, and  much more sophisticated ones. And we believe if you can afford to put LED in your shop, you should also be ready to pay more, because LEDs are not cheap,” he added.

 

While reiterating the agency’s zero tolerance for corruption, the LASAA boss explained that the recent incident involving its staffer, and one of the agency’s clients, was not a case of fraud, adding that the officer in question  is being made to face disciplinary action for not following the laid down procedure of the agency.
